You're in Chicago with a customer. Together with your team, you have installed a new machine line over the past few weeks. Today, he is fully involved in production for the first time. For you, that's the time when everything comes together: the preparatory work, the coordination with the customer and the efforts of your colleagues. In two weeks, a lot had to be arranged: check parts, check drawings, and add extra expertise. That's part of it. It is precisely that switching and solving unexpected situations that makes this work interesting. As a Field Service Engineer, you travel around the world to install, improve and deliver machine lines in working order. No day and no project are the same. And every time, you leave with the certainty that there is another sustainable line that will last for years.
Who are we?
We are Huhtamaki Fiber Technology, the international R&D center and machine line developer of the major packaging company Huhtamaki. We passionately develop machine lines that make it possible to produce sustainable packaging for, among others, the food industry. We have a modern test center, a pilot plant and various other departments under one roof. We are all about innovation: sustainable innovation! What does the job include?
As a Field Service Engineer, you ensure that machine lines are properly set up, installed and optimized at customers worldwide. You are the point of contact on site, manage your local team and also take care of revisions and upgrades. In this role, your knowledge of mechatronics comes in handy: you are the link between programmers and engineers and know how to connect theory and practice. You do this work because you get energy from complex projects, collaborating with different cultures and finding practical solutions over and over again. Traveling is part of this job. You often know where you are going beforehand. That's no problem for you, because you love variety and are happy to contribute to sustainable packaging solutions that really matter.
Other activities you can expect:
• Prepare by participating in project meetings.
• Check drawings and parts on site and ensure that the right expertise is available in the team.
• Installation, testing and delivery of the machine line within the schedule.
• Maintain contact with the customer and team during the project.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and discuss them with your team.
The job requirements:
• You have completed a technical education, at MBO+ or HBO level;
• You have several years of work experience in a technical environment, preferably in mechatronics;
• You are flexible and have experience visiting customers around the world. You are used to being away from home longer sometimes.
• You are fluent in the English language, orally and in writing.

• You are a pure tech geek. You have broad technical knowledge, are good at reading drawings and know how to link theory and practice.
