Together with your colleagues from the project team, you will have a meeting about a new project: the implementation of a machine line, in Australia. You have a very tight schedule. The project manager says that he is a bit concerned; the customer still wants a small adjustment and hopes that your supplier can still adjust the order and that everything is delivered on time. Fortunately, you have made contract agreements about prices and delivery times with your regional and international suppliers. You advise your colleague to call the supplier immediately after this meeting. Your supplier will undoubtedly ensure that the parts are received on time. Thanks to your forecast, your supplier was already aware of the order in good time. After the meeting, you walk to your office with a good feeling. You've only been working at Huhtamaki for a year, but you've already achieved a lot. You have laid the basis for a good and reliable forecast, but your supplier strategy also stands like a stone and is fully substantiated on the basis of data. This is what you do it for: you have impact, the freedom to make your own decisions and plenty of challenges in your work. Every day, you and your colleagues make the world a little more beautiful and more sustainable. You offer solutions that matter socially and that go around the world. Will you join us?
Let's introduce ourselves first
We are Huhtamaki Fiber Technology, the international R&D center and machine line developer of the major packaging company Huhtamaki. We passionately develop machine lines that make it possible to produce sustainable packaging for, among others, the food industry. We have located a modern test center, a pilot plant and various other departments under one roof. We are all about innovation, sustainable innovation! Not only because our customers and end users from the global retail market ask for it every day, but also because we ourselves strive for a world with sustainable packaging materials.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Senior Buyer with experience in a technical or industrial environment who carries out projects on a tactical and strategic level. Not an average Buyer, but someone who really believes in sustainable relationships and always sees room for improvements in our purchasing processes. You like to be in control and not sit in the front passenger seat. You understand that doing business honestly, transparency and close cooperation can take organizations further. A purchasing professional who is challenged by the diversity of our innovative projects and who, together with the organization, has an impact on their success.
As a Senior Buyer:
• Do you have a helicopter view of the projects and know how to set the right priorities. You switch well between the issues of the day and long-term structural improvements.
• Bring your overview, structure and process optimizations to the purchasing projects of a growing organization with complex technical projects.
• You know better than anyone how to move within a dynamic organization and are firm on your feet. You like to take the initiative.
• Through a balanced supplier strategy based on data and goals, you know how to determine the right potential suppliers and further improve existing suppliers.
• You are the point of contact within the project teams and advise your colleagues on suppliers, risks, quality, costs, terms and delivery times, tailored to technical specifications and project requirements.
• Do you take strategic choices that allow us to stay ahead with innovative, sustainable solutions for the packaging industry.
We are looking for a colleague who not only has the right skills, but also fits our way of working and our ambitions:
• Someone with at least 5 years of purchasing experience in a technical or industrial environment (supplemented with NEVI 1 and/or 2). You actively participate in project teams, but you also contribute ideas at a strategic level. You speak the language of our technicians and suppliers.
• A purchasing professional who is analytical, who clearly identifies the conditions and risks and advises and includes colleagues.
• An entrepreneur who, with his/her enthusiasm, knows how to expand our network of suppliers and who knows how to bind them to us. We work with regional and international partners.
• Someone who strives for sustainable relationships with our stakeholders and thus aligns with Huhtamaki Fiber Technology's vision.
Do you recognize yourself in the above points? Then you could just be our new Senior Buyer.
Who do you work with and for?
For the Purchasing Department, we are looking for reinforcements due to the departure of a colleague. The current team consists of a Purchasing Manager, one Buyer and two Purchasing Specialists. Together, you aim for an effective and efficient purchasing process and strive for optimal relationships with suppliers and customers. In addition, you have a lot of contact with the Sales, Project Management, R&D and Engineering departments. We are an internationally operating organization, which means that you regularly work with colleagues in other parts of the world. You will find yourself in a dynamic environment that is constantly changing.
What do you do during a working day?
• You actively participate in project teams. Our projects are innovative and complex. We develop instead of copying, so no project is the same. You are challenged to continuously look for suppliers with which we can achieve our goals.
• Our organization is growing, so you are striving to expand and optimize the strategic supplier network, but also your purchasing process. Time to market, innovation, delivery times, quality, costs and reproducibility are the priorities here.
• You regularly sit down with suppliers to discuss issues from the project teams. During these conversations, you are happy to take the lead.
• You provide structure to our dynamic purchasing environment. Procurement is at the forefront, so you actively advise in all phases of projects.
What do you get from us?
• As a Senior Buyer, you will be employed directly by us, we like to retain good people;
• Your salary — based on the weight of the job and your experience — is between €63,750 and €85,000 per year based on 40 hours per week, including 8% vacation allowance and a 13th month;
• Bonus plan: maximum 7.50% of your annual salary (depending on individual and business performance);
• The space and freedom to keep developing yourself (courses/training courses) at an organization that is constantly innovating. At Huhtamaki Fiber Technology, we never stand still;
• A challenging and independent position with a lot of responsibility within an organization with a great future perspective and impact on a better environment;
• Collegiate and energetic colleagues who want to work with you to make the world a little more sustainable.
