You have just reviewed the latest test results of the drying machine with the Project Manager, the results look positive. You still enjoy it, the contact with all the technicians. Everyone knows Huhtamaki Fiber Technology, because you are the R&D center and the machine line developer. The company is constantly growing and is always on the move. There is room to invest and keep developing. All techniques come together and this gives you a lot of challenge as a Work Planner. As a real technician, you are proud when a machine line has been implemented and everything is up and running. Variety? No, there is no shortage of that, because no project is the same and, together with your colleagues, you will work on innovative machine lines for sustainable packaging materials. This is what you do it for: you have impact, freedom to make decisions and you are technically challenged. And you also work on the most beautiful projects. You realize how great your job is and it makes you proud to work with Huhtamaki Fiber Technology on a plastic-free future.
Sustainable packaging thanks to our innovative machine lines
We are Huhtamaki Fiber Technology, the international R&D center and machine line developer of the major packaging company Huhtamaki. We passionately develop machine lines that make it possible to produce sustainable packaging for, among others, the food industry. We have located a modern test center, a pilot plant and various other departments under one roof. For us, it's all about innovation, sustainable innovation! Not only because our customers and end users from the global retail market ask for it every day, but also because we ourselves strive for a world with sustainable packaging materials. A good example is our Fresh project, in which we developed fully compostable packaging for ready meals. And the best part: this packaging reduces CO2 emissions by 82% and no plastic waste. Making a difference, we are proud of that!
What does the job include?
As a Work Planner, you are responsible for one or more machine parts that come together in an entire machine line. You delve into the technique of these components, become a specialist in your field and monitor progress by maintaining continuous contact with machine builders and internal teams. You can regularly visit the Fiber Center to stay up to date with the latest developments and tests. You are responsible for ensuring that everything goes according to plan and you are in regular contact with the Project Manager, to whom you report. You keep an overview and are in close contact with your colleagues and suppliers. When you see room for improvements in the process, initiate them and implement them. In this role, you will work closely with your fellow work planners. You consult regularly and support each other where necessary.
Why are you going to do this?
Because you want to contribute to technical solutions that allow us to provide the world with production lines that produce sustainable packaging materials. But also because the challenge and variety in this position appeal to you. As a Work Planner, you work on innovative, complex projects. You feel responsible for guiding each project to a successful outcome. You also have no problem going the extra mile to exceed your customer's expectations. As a result, after your working day, you go home feeling good.
What activities can you expect during a working day as a Work Planner?
You start the day with a good cup of coffee. You open your mailbox and a message from a supplier immediately catches your eye. He has a number of questions about the delivery of a machine component. You call him immediately. Together, you go through the planning and you come to the conclusion that everything will be delivered on time. Afterwards, you will have a meeting with the Project Manager. Every week, you review the projects. You will discuss the possible bottlenecks for which, of course, you will propose the solution yourself. After lunch, you will go to the test center to review the latest test results. You are very satisfied and you go back to the office feeling good. After that, you will have another meeting with the project team about the start of a new complex project. You discuss who is going to pick up what and when the drawing packages are ready. At the end of the afternoon, contact a supplier to schedule an appointment and email the Project Manager to report the status of the projects.
